Diet-Related Causes

1.Food Intolerance

Food intolerance is defined as the negative reaction to a food that may (or may not) be in connection with the immune system or with food poisoning. It can result from the lack of particular chemicals or enzymes required to digest a food substance. It may also be related to the body’s response to specific food constituents regardless if it is natural or artificial. Common food intolerances are lactose intolerance and fructose intolerance. You may be asking how it can lead to bloating. Let’s say you are lactose intolerant. The undigested lactose will pass to the colon where it will be broken down and turned into gas. Gas in that area causes bloating.

1.Gas-producing foods

Blame gas-producing foods for your bloated stomach. If you are not aware which foods are considered gas-producers, they are baked beans, lima beans and lentils, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower, grains and fiber, and fatty foods. There you have it. If you are guilty of eating too much of these, then you do not need to wonder why you are suffering from bloating.

2.Salty Foods

Excessive salt intake can cause bloating since it retains water. The term used for abdominal bloating caused by too much accumulation of liquid is ascites. In case you are don’t have a solid idea of salty foods, they are processed cheese, junk foods like potato chips, beef jerky, canned soups, frozen meals, nuts, pretzels, and salad dressings. Salt may add flavor to the food but it can also add to the diameter of your abdominal area.
